What is Pain?

well, I now know the answer...

or, part of it. It's not something I've ever felt before, but I've felt it now. 45 minutes of it, and it's called rehab, the day after surgery. but that's over now...

the drugs do make things interesting though...a little codeine to screw things up, I've already made a fool of myself with the stuff. You feel disastrously unconcerned about most things and uncommonly ignorant about everything else, which makes for some interesting lines...

The surgery was good, no severe complications which is always a nice thing to know...the best thing is that I've made incredible progress in rehab and that I'm already walking! well, I kinda needed to. I was in our choir, end of the semester, concert (which was amazingly cool and we put on a glorious performance!!) and I had to be standing and walking...sooo...it was necessary. but hey, at least I'm not in a wheelchair...

I also took the SAT yesterday...and that wasn't the brightest thing to do, but I might have elevated my essay score, (essays...whoever came up with that lame idea...ugh) but seriously, the college board created the test and so now colleges have to look at the essays and teachers have to grade them and the students have to do it...not because everybody wants to but because everybody has to. so impractical...and get this, you don't even have to have factual evidence to back up what you say in the essay, you can just make stuff up and as long as it supports your case...I mean seriously...

well, I'll leave you all with this amazing fact of life that I found

"Mules kill more people annually then plane crashes"

Andrew,
To quote Charity Blackwood,
"yaaaay you posted!" Keep up the good work. And be sure to grow your beard back (yes, everybody else who's viewing this, he CAN grow a beard).

Christina,
Some good movies I've seen:
The Birds, North by Northwest (Alfred Hitchcock), Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein, Abbot and Costello meet the Killer Boris Karloff, Abbot and Costello Gone to Mars, Whodunit (Abbot and Costello), The Pink Panther [original], Return of the Pink Panther (Peter Sellers), Sergeant York (Gary Cooper), The Hunt for Red October (Sean Connery, James Earl Jones), Murder by Death (Peter Sellers, David Niven, Peter Falk, Truman Capote, Sir Alec Guiness)

I appologize for not commenting sooner, Andrew. I've just had lots of stuff to do and haven't gotten around to a lot of things. Let us know when you get the results of your SAT test.

Mr. Archduke, I haven't heard of half those movies. Some of my favorites are Titanic, The Patriot, The Core, The Day After Tomorrow, The Man From Snowy River, Return to Snowy River, 13 Going on 30, and my favorite version of a Christmas Carol is the TNT version with Patrick Stewart. Thanks for the recamendation.

Christina,
If you happen to be interested in any of those recommended movies, I would guess you could find some of them in a library near you, or in a bookstore like Borders or Barnes and Noble. But a word of warning here--Alfred Hitchcock is famous for the way he directed his suspense movies. There's not much blood and gore; he just shows you the right image at the right time and your mind fills in the rest. It can get pretty scary at times, so I suggest that you start with North by Northwest and The Man who Knew Too Much, and then tackle the scarier ones like The Birds. Sergeant York and the Abbot and Costello films are black-and-white classics. The Hunt for Red October is a historical fiction that takes place during the Cold War. Murder by Death is somewhat of a black comedy so the humor may seem slightly off-key, but it has really good actors in it like Alec Guinness (Obi-wan in Star Wars 4, 5 and 6). So if you have the chance, try some out.

Now that I think about it, isn't Alfred Hitchcock the one who made "Christine" and that one about the St. Bernard that had gone mad? I wouldn't trust the movies they have at our library. One of my friends checked out a movie and it wrecked their VCR. But I'll definitely look into it.

Christina,
I don't know any Hitchcock movies of that description.

Tamara,
You kind of have to take the SAT if you want to get a good recommendation to colleges, at least in the USA--don't know about Australia except the colleges are free and the taxes are outrageous.

But twenty years from now, people might not need to take the SAT anymore, because they might not be going to college anymore, because the college fee is calculated to go up to about half a million USA dollars by some point in time.

As always,

You and your random facts... hehe. So you took the SAT whilst on DRUGS? I gues considering you've written like a zillion essays in the last couple weeks, you would do better on the essay part. Yikes. The SAT scares me. And I haven't even taken it...yet.

the essay is the least of your worries. There isn't any really good way to do it. I have taken the SAT twice now. the first time I didn't even finish the essay. The second time, I worked in two of Shakespeare's plays and a brilliant conclusion (ur just gonna have to take my word that it was brilliant) and I got the same score. Its all about convension. If u can put in commas and such, ur good. I didn't get the score I was hoping for on that one because I didn't realize that and I have a strong dislike for english convension. especially in spelling.

I heard that the score of an essay on the SAT almost varies directly with the length of the essay. Therefore, the longer the essay, usually the higher score. It can also seem like the judges favor essays with sob stories in them. Like, for instance, Andrew might get a high score by incorporating the story of his knee. Or someone else might get a high score by writing a four-hundred-word essay, if they have enough space.

confounded college board, I knew they were all crazy, I mean, just look at the way they put the web site together! I could do a better job! and that is saying something I am terrible with HTML. The only website worse than it is the Purdue one... I can't think why they would make it so messy either.

Andrew,
I think you should update.

DUDE! UPDATE! SERIOUSLY!

(remember, you always take my advice...hehehe.)

Atleast at the Purdue website it's easy to find the academics and tuition page. I've gone to college websites where it's like pulling teeth to try and figure out how much tuition is.

I agree. UPDATE!! I did, you should too.
