Why is English so hard to learn?
1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce.
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
8) I did not object to the object.
9) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
10) They were too close to the door to close it.
11) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.
12) How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
13) I shed my clothes in the shed.
Let's face it - English is a ridiculous language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in a hamburger; neither apple nor pine in a pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England, nor French fries in France. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. And why is it that bakers bake, but grocers don't groce? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? We ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all). That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible. And finally, when you want to shut down your computer you have to hit "START".

2 incredible things about this weekend....
Colts are going to the superbowl!!!!
For those who caught the end, the game was incredible!! I never saw anything like it. One of the most amazing playoff games ever! The colts came back from a 21 to 3 deficit to beat the patriots. The first team in NFL history to come back from that much in a playoff game! I can't wait til the superbowl...
The other thing that happened this weekend was the speech and debate tournament. It was kinda sad becuase it was my last one. But it was fun anyway, i got to see some old friends and make some new ones, and argue about NATO, and give speeches. It's one of those things that you have to get used to. Speech and Debate isn't something you just randomly decide to do. You have to prepare and work at it for months to be any good and compete in tournaments. Being with other people who are just as nervous as you are and the thrill of actually placing in the rounds, there's nothing like it.
well, have a great week guys!

The Beginning...
So...
2 Big things are happening...
1. I am preparing for music school auditions
I am accepted at 4 schools, Genva, Purdue, Butler, and Ball State; and I have to audition at all of them except purdue. (since purdue doesn't have the brilliance of having a music school...) So right now any of those are an option...but only one will prevail...supposedly.
2. I have started a calculus class at Ivy Tech.
Yeah i know, worldwide acclaimed school...but hey, i got a great prof. and that's what counts.
ok, so maybe they won't change the face of the world, but in my life these are rather influential...
by the way, my sister had her annual nutcracker ballet performance, and it really went well, our small ballet school here in lafayette can put on some rather spectacular performances...this year she played a great role...a party...boy. which well...yes it was great becuase i definitely got to teach her some great "guy" moves...
